About this deal

The game we currently have for sale, pictured on this page, is in very good condition with all of the original components. So in a game of 'Mine a Million' aka 'The Business Game' the production card came up with Earthquake at Newport. And in honesty for all the merits of the game there’s just not quite enough strategy or enough interaction to fill all those hours.

When a player rolls a one or a six, in addition to producing a unit (or units), they also receive a card.

To stop other people screwing you over you need to keep your flow of both pounds and dollars in perfect balance with not too much and not too little of either.

By continuing to use this site you consent to the use of cookies on your device as described in our cookie policy unless you have disabled them. How economic, labour and other problems can sabotage profits, and how unscrupulous competitors who try to block you at every turn can make business a very tough game. But on the other hand that’s a waste of money, and at some point you’re gonig to run out and everyone else will get a chance to put you in the same position. After all you can’t just exchange those pounds for dollars - you need the pounds to finance transport but you need dollars to win the game. Finally the players begin to transport the production units across the sea by either barges, more slowly around the coast or more quickly by ships. The struggle to expand business, keep adequate sterling balances, achieve maximum dollar exports and keep ahead of rivals, produces one of the most compelling and absorbing games ever invented. You can use these pounds to hire more lorries (and thus annoy your opponents more), build more drilling rigs to get more ore and eventually set up a canal company and hire barges which can transport a lot of ore at once and move rather faster than a lorry, of which more shortly. Although since it’s entirely possible to get several event cards in a row, you’ll still be blindsided some of the time. In this country, the Minister for Transport has decreed that all transport must travel fully loaded. Trust me that face-up is best: there’s still plenty of chaos and excitement in the game but suddenly, rather than having your game torpedoed out of the blue by a bad event card, strategy can include an element of calculated risk. I’ve never tried any house rules though and that’s testament to the fact that even as it stands, and aged as it is, there’s still plenty of fun to be had here. Some of the technologies we use are necessary for critical functions like security and site integrity, account authentication, security and privacy preferences, internal site usage and maintenance data, and to make the site work correctly for browsing and transactions. Having a queue of face up events to make it a bit more strategic, for example, or simply reducing the winning post to make the game a bit shorter. The idea is to sell it, and to sell it you have to take it to the nearest market town and that’s where things start to get interesting. Business board game dealing with the world of mining and transport, showing how industry makes money and how they can lose it. So I cannot tell you where there is one like yours for sale because we think you have a very rare game.

The simplest way to achieve this is by getting 10 units to the furthest port (Port Boston), and another five to either of the nearer two (Race Bay or St. com Limited, registered in England and Wales with number 03934849, 27 Old Gloucester Street, London, WC1N 3AX, United Kingdom. I played it when I was young in the sixties when it came out, I lost the game over several moves and time. Essentially complete apart from some missing ‘gems’ (there should be 15 in each colour but blue and white are missing one each, red and green missing 2 each.Again, of no consequence if there are no ships on the board but if someone looses a big cargo of ore when the boat goes down, then that can determine the winner of the game, all down to a dice roll and a card draw and that sucks. Indeed I admire the way in which this game limits the amount of screwage you can inflict on other players partly based on skill: good players won’t get shafted by their competitors so often because they’ll have a balanced operation and there will be no point.
