Sleek and punky in its musical disposition, it sees Simbi engage with spirituality as well as her experiences in the music industry on a compound of hip-hop, gospel, soul, funk and electronica. Sleek, succinct and utterly propulsive, it's Simz' defiantly punk rock, two fingered salute to conformity and fame, and all the expectations and restrictions that come with.

The album alludes to challenges faced releasing music with a tone of self-reflection but this album feels stronger than ever, with her talent shining through each track on the album despite the obstacles and healing that took place. It has an alluring vibe, gloomy in places, empowering in others, and often feels as lonely as lockdown will have been for many.

Review: 29-year old Simbiatu Ajikawo aka Little Simz had a breakout year in 2022 that saw her complete a sold out tour and win some big awards (Mercury Music Prize, Mobo, Ivor Novello and Brit) as well as the public's affections.

My favourite song on the album is 'Broken', the lyrics are so thoughtfully placed and the samples are awesome, however the mixing on this track is so bad im not quite sure how it ever left the production stage, the high hats that run along the enture track are so sibilant that its painful at some points. Another standout for me has to be “Heart on Fire”, you can feel the atmosphere building like a rising in your chest, it’s evident that this soulful music comes from the heart. It's a confident record from an artist at the top of her game, all recorded with her go to collaborator Inflo.

Review: First released on streaming services back in December, Little Simz fifth album, No Thank You, finally makes it onto CD. Review: Drop 6 is the latest in an ongoing mix series that finds British rapper Little Simz flexing her skills over an extended release.
