About this deal

Expect notes of caramel, fruit and rose petal, balanced with hints of oak, leather and an unusually dry and nutty finish. So when we created our bottles we wanted to design something that felt like a decanter - meant to be passed around a group of friends, new and old, as they enjoy sharing a dram together. This 12 year old Ledaig Distillery Exclusive release was finished in Amarone wine casks for one year, creating a sweet but smoky dram with sweet vanilla custard and honey notes balanced with sharp tannins and a distinct saline note intertwined with a peppery smoke.

Early the following year, following several further months of unusually dry weather, there was another temporary halt to production. When it reopened in 1878, the Ledaig deeds and ownership were passed from pillar to post before closing for a second time in 1930, as there was a drop in the demand for whisky due to prohibition in the United States. There’s still so much I have yet to try and I get a bit overwhelmed at what my next whisky purchase will be.The label clearly and transparently shows you all the key information, including: the nature of the liquid (for example, single malt scotch) where it was distilled; how old it is; and how strong it is. Believed to have been laden with jewels, we have finished our smoky Ledaig signature expression in hand selected Rioja casks in honour of the Spanish treasure buried deep off our shoreline. This whisky unfolds with an intricate blend of peat smoke, maritime notes, and a subtle sweetness, reminiscent of salted caramel.

Aged for 17 years, the full maturation in Oloroso sherry casks has packed this special Tobermory release full of flavour. The distillery has been in and out of production since it was founded in 1798 by John Sinclair, even having been used as a power station during the 1930s, but is now in the hands of Burn Stewart Distillers. Distilled on the Isle of Mull with Hebridean tea, heather, elderflower and sweet orange peel, our award-winning Hebridean gin is fresh and zesty. Our bottles come in two sizes: 700ml, which is our standard for our main releases; and for some of our expressions, 100ml minis.

Distilled in 2005 and matured in a single sherry butt for 14 years before being bottled in February 2020. This new release is part of the 'Sinclair Series' with the initial maturation in ex-Bourbon barrels, following further time spent in Spanish ex-Rioja wine barrels. Maritime and smoky, this rivals some of the Islay drams for power, and the 10 year old balances the intensity of youth with rounded, well-aged spirit. Where it differs from Tobermory whisky is that it is distilled from heavily peated malted barley, giving the liquid a highly distinctive, light yet smoky and peaty flavour. Made with heavily peated barley before being matured in ex-bourbon casks, and finished in hand-selected Spanish R.Sitting in the centre of the vibrant island community, from which we take our name, we are a thriving, expressive and unique distiller, true to our idyllic Hebridean home. The only whisky distillery on Mull, its main product is Tobermory Single Malt Whisky, and the whisky distillery also produces a smaller amount of peated whisky, which remains known under the former name, Ledaig.
