About this deal

The style gets its name from gin’s use by the Royal Navy in the 19th century, when sailors would test the strength of their spirits by attempting to light gunpowder. Adding tonic elevates the pine and floral notes on the nose as well as the deep earthy and woody characters on the palate.

If the gin had at least 57% ABV, then it surely survived the test and was proclaimed of navy strength. The taste is complex but strikingly smooth encompassing floral, fruity and spicy flavours which can be enjoyed both straight and in a cocktail. Its innovative blend of 14 botanicals combines rare African ingredients with fresh apples that make Elephant Gin distinct from any other.

Elephant Gin is also one gin barkeepers don't want to be without, whether on their shelves at home or at work. With the hand-crafted bottle, complete with cork stopper and an old fashioned map on the label, Elephant Dry Gin certainly captures the spirit of exploration. They're joined by mountain pine, apple, orange peel, ginger, and a few more hushed-up botanicals that make Elephant Gin such a treat.

As such we have invested in global protection and take action against every infringement of our rights. With every bottle sold, Elephant Gin contributes 15% of profits to elephant conservation charities including Big Life Foundation, while with each miniature bottle sold, 15% of profits is donated to Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. This transitions seamlessly into a finish of warming ginger, peppery spice and lingering bittersweet citrus. The taste is complex but strikingly smooth, encompassing floral, fruity and spicy flavours, which can be enjoyed both straight and in a cocktail. Our innovative blend of 14 botanicals combines rare African ingredients with fresh, hand-cut apple apples from orchards surrounding our distillery.

The gin’s nose yields a subtle juniper aroma with an undertone of mountain pine and other herbaceous notes. It contains double the quantity of botanicals used in the original Elephant Gin and shines a light on African buchu. Each batch is named after past great tuskers and elephants that Elephant Gin’s partner elephant conservation foundations currently help to protect.

The Elephant Strength bottle takes inspiration from its naval origins with navy blue accents and an inviting map of the ocean, conjuring far-flung exploration and the spirit of adventure at the heart of the brand. The result is a more powerful nose and taste - without losing the silky-smooth character that the Elephant London Dry Gin has become celebrated for. I suppose I thought great idea, great project to support and I like the bottle however, the gin has now become my favourite. Handcrafted, all botanticals are hand-selected, labels hand-written and each batch named after a special African elephant. Lion's Tail (not literally), Devil's Claw (not literally), Baobab, and African Wormwood are the African rarities in this gin. Instead of the hemp string that ties around the London Dry bottles, the Strength Gin features a rope-like string with a charming miniature anchor hanging from it.
