About this deal

Having said that I was amazed at how good most of the effects were and the Quicktone Editor app makes it even better. But its lower input impedance makes this input a bit dull for guitars, so it's not really an alternative to the main guitar input. It doesn't make a difference in how it sounds obviously, but it adds a sense of interaction to the experience that makes it way more enjoyable to tweak the thing compared to the, for example, boring red horizontal scroll bars on other modelers *cough Helix cough*.

One of the ideas I was kicking around was to get a small multi-fx pedal and plug some headphones into it.A true USB sound interface, the MG30 also allows you to record yourself, stream and even be able to re-amp your recordings. For the record, I share below the response of the SLO (all controls at noon) as it is now emulated by the MG30 (in blue), VS the curves of other digital MG30 models: the JCM800 (in white), 1987X (in green) and Friedman (in pink).

If you watch the YouTube videos you'll get a good impression of what it can do, once you accept the sponsorship in place. If most or all of your patches have the same problem, remember there's a global EQ setting (how-to video is here). But that's exactly why I like it, the tone is recording-ready, no "annoying" frequencies like with some other devices but pretty well balanced and pleasant to the ear. To come back on topic I'll just state that my "flattening EQ" is NOT necessarily good for high gain amp models in the MG30. The corrected one and another where I changed exactly three setting quite heavy handed: I pushed Bias to the max (biggest effect). The NUX MG30 multi-fx unit offers you realistic amp response and playability, complete with a host of great features to play and experiment with!

So I can use the "send" plug to feed a normal guitar amp while the same chain still feeds the inner amp sim + its IR. I think some of the models can be a bit processor hungry on the stomp leading to possible compromises but I’m sure it can do most anything you need with some judicious editing . The processor is also well equipped for recording purposes with two line outs and an additional USB port for audio streaming.Still, when rehearsing with the band and I connect the MG 30 straight to Mixer/PA via 1/4 output jack (in mono) have to say I am disappointed by the results.
