About this deal

When I switched to P or R - the revs dropped to usual, back to drive - good again before taking off. It looks like it is a big chunk of metal with o-ring on it, but when they said it's 'broken', could it be just the o-ring is broken?

Obviously as its four months out of warranty they had zero interest in helping me rectify the problem. So, as I'm sure this specific party itself is great, it's just one piece to an absolute terribly designed VVT system.

Just want to check, I have read elsewhere that this is only common on pre 2018 engines, has anyone with later models also had the problem? I contacted Lexus and the local dealer requesting that if the car could not be used until the repair was completed, I needed a loaner until they could "find" the parts. VVL allows your engine to choose between two exhaust cam profiles one designed for economy / fuel efficiency and one for performance. Is it possible the solenoid units are faulty rather than as i suspected clogged or is it possible the engine just needs a flush and oil change? My sister has very little money, and no steady job, and is going to have a hard time already covering the repairs she's already agreed to.I've seen a youtube shorts about rough idles on a velar like mine and a suggestion has been to replace the breather. There have been cases of broken connectors like the one shown below, and a failed seal is also quite possible.
